My new blog.
A new 'novel' for me.
Not a chapter, as I may as well have kept my original blog, but a new novel.
My 'old' blog was called Bernie's World Odyssey. I wrote the blog as I traveled the world for 20 months over the course of March 2011 through to November 2012. My trip involved 60 countries and all 7 continents and my most favourite continent was Africa. It changed my life, so much so, that I decided after my Odyssey was over that I was going to move to Africa to start a new life and dedicate my life to making a difference to some-one else's life.
I then started a new blog called Bernie's Ethiopian Odyssey as I planned to move to Ethiopia in September 2012 to start a new life with some-one who I thought was the love of my life. My move was delayed a little and in the process due to unforseen circumstances Zeme (ex boyfriend) and I separated. This didn't dampen my committment I had originally made to myself and I still plan to travel to Ethiopia in January 2013. I have decided to start a new blog though, as I am now not tied to Ethiopia, I just don't know which African country I will be perfect for and which country will be perfect for me. I can only open my heart, my mind and put myself in fate's hands and see where life will take me.
So this is my new blog. Bernie's African Odyssey and I love the freedom it gives me should I not like Ethiopia or if an opportunity comes up for me to go to another African country. I am also keeping my options open as I have my sights on doing another tour of West Africa and this blog would be perfect for that as well. But that is further down the track and is a backup, backup plan if things go a little haywire.
We never know what is in store for us and I am happy to ride the tide and see where it washes me up. All I do know for certain is that I want to make Africa my new home. It is time to have a place to call my own, a place where I can help people and know that I am giving back to a world that has been pretty good to me.
